From soap to baking powder to gum

The official gum of Gum Guy comes from Wrigley, and here’s the story of how William Wrigley, Jr. (that’s him above), came to Chicago in 1891 with $32 in his pocket and great talent as a salesman for Wrigley’s soap, which then led to free baking powder with the soap and then free gum with the baking powder. The current news these days is about Xylitol (it’s all about birch trees and corn cobs, at least some of the time) in gummy bears as a way to reduce the risk of cavities, but if you’re not into gummy bears, you can do it with sugarless gum made by a company called Zapp.
